Rene and Barbara StoeltieWelcome, “My Kind of Room”, a column where the most influential designers in the world of design share the space they use to get inspiration. Designer Sheila Bridges shares a poignant story from the pages of a book.

Paris Flea Market (World Design).amazon.com $45.98 I found this room in Patrick Guffraz’s home in a 1996 Herbert Ypma book, Paris Flea Market. The vermilion was a very saturated color that I like. I love classical furniture, and this settee is one of my favorites. It has embroidery that shows vessels and the words Je pense un jardin. Guffraz described his style as Art Pauvre, which is the idea of mixing things into a space that aren’t too precious. He used lamps with very simple shades and the sunburst in gilt-wood. The casual elegance, simplicity, restraint and curation of this room is what I love. This room is just as relevant and stylish today as it was 25-years ago.
