I awoke yesterday morning in the throes of sciatic pain and felt the angst of having to relive the dreaded 10 days I had experienced before. Thankfully, the pain wasn’t as bad as it had been, but it still prevented me from being productive. I had the potential to have four uninterrupted work days in a row, something I hadn’t had in a long time, but now one of them had been wasted away. Frustrated and disappointed, I decided to catch up on some requests and answer a frequently asked question about my recent project.

I had made a decision about cabinet door pulls. Several people had suggested using cheap wood knobs painted to match the colors they sit on, and I thought it was a great solution. The knobs were inexpensive and took about four coats of paint to get them just right but the end result was worth it. The knobs are subtle yet hard to miss in person, however in pictures they kind of disappear.

Another question was whether I had to move the cabinet away from the wall to install baseboards. The answer was no, since the cabinet was so tall and thin I wanted to secure it to the wall to prevent it from tipping over. Therefore, I opted to put baseboards around the cabinet on either side instead of behind it.

Finally, I had been asked for the paint colors I used, so I put together a list of 72 paint colors, all from Home Depot and Behr brand. Some of them were mixed by me and are not an exact match to the color name, but they’re close.

Since I hadn’t been able to work yesterday, my plan today was to paint the back entry walls, and time would tell if I was able to get the job done.

Addicted 2 Decorating is my DIY and decorating journey as I remodel and decorate my 1948 fixer upper. As my husband has Multiple Sclerosis and is unable to do physical work, I do the majority of the work myself.
