Many people think that quality hardwood and well-built homes are synonymous. Hickory is a wood that’s considered to be as durable and tough as nails as any other. This makes sense considering its long history of being used by Native American cultures. It’s easy to see why homeowners and home-builders are embracing hickory as a durable and built-to-last choice of material and construction method.

Carlisle Wide Plank Floors is a manufacturer that offers a unique option to blend fashionable aesthetics and material endurance. They offer the Earthen wide-plank hickory flooring collection. The collection is hand-crafted from Shagbark hickory and Bitternut, and includes six hardwood flooring options. They are dense, low sheen and come in distinctive colors and rich tones. Each floor is sourced from northern climates, and each one is named after a different type soil-alluvium.

Carlisle’s Earthen Collection is unique because it mixes two types of planks: one that is smooth and one with imperfections such as knots and ingrown bark. This creates a more natural look to hardwood.

Hickory is notorious for being difficult to work with. These floor planks, however, are easy to install. The planks come in 3/4-inch thickness. Thickness with 8-in. There are widths from 8-in. to 12ft., with the option of engineered or solid construction. On request, we can customize grade alterations, alternate faces widths and add texture. Solid planks for Earthen start at $19.06 per sq. Engineered planks are $17.67/sq. For more information or to order, visit a Carlisle showroom or request a design consultation.
